During the Middle Ages it had a great German colonization and during the Industrial Revolution it became one of the most developed cities. Warsaw or Krakow is usually visited from Poland, but this city is not so much known that it is still often dazzling those who visitit. It is said to be a city that surprises you, so it’s a good idea to do a review of all those places that can be seen in it.

Rynek, its main square

Plaza Rynek

Rynek is the main square or the main square, which was the ancient medieval market square. It is the ideal place to explore the city, as there are eleven different streets from this square. There are sixty houses surrounding it and it is one of the most photogenic, being the second largest in the country. About thirty years ago it was a square for cars but today it is completely pedestrian for the pleasure of tourists who can take beautiful pictures and walk around it quietly. Some of its highlights are the House under the Golden Sun, the House Under the Griffins or the House Under the Blue Sun. The square also stands out the beautiful Gothic town hall of the 15th century. The church of Santa Isabel dates back to the 12th century although its decoration in Gothic style is later. As we can see it is one of the most important historical sites in this city and a place to stop.

Solny Square

The translation comes to be the Plaza de la Sal and has certain peculiarities that make us have to visit it. One of them is that in the square you can buy flowers 24 hours a day, something unusual anywhere. But here are also the public toilets that won an award for the best in the whole of Poland in 2012. And another thing is that in this square there are up to eleven figures of gnomes, so a fun idea is to look for them and go discovering one by one. But these small statues of gnomes are all over the city and there are hundreds of them, so it will be amazing to meet them. One of the things that the city is unforgettable for.

Ossolineum Garden

This is an old Prussian convent, one of the four left when there were thirteen in the past. It is currently used as a school. But the interesting thing about this place is outside it. It is about its beautiful and manicured gardens, which are also one of those places where you can find peace within the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a place recommended precisely because of the beautiful photos that can be done on it.

Ostrów Tumski

This is the cathedral island, a place where the first town of the city settled. It is surrounded by the river Oder and there is the city’s cathedral. You can also see the Archdiocesan Museum, the oldest in the city, where there are monuments and cult objects that are retired but are kept for their great historical and artistic value. The bridge to get to this island is known as the Padlock Bridge because it has a lot of them and even sell them at the entrance so we can leave a bit of us on it.

Wroclaw Cathedral

This cathedral is located on the island of the city. Although it is the most famous, there are three other churches on the island. It is Gothic and Neo-Gothic style and from the bridge we can see its two towers, which are what stands out most about the island. From the terrace of the tower we will have great views of the city and there is also an elevator, so you don’t have to be fit.

Panorama Raclawice

Panorama

This is undoubtedly one of the most sought after visits in the whole city. This is a large panoramic painting that offers a surprise effect on the viewer. It makes us feel part of the same painting, as it is immersive and panoramic, so it usually likes all visitors very much. This painting depicts the Raclawicka battle of 1794.

University of Wroclaw

The University of this city already has three centuries, making it a historic place. Inside the University Museum you can find an authentic jewel of the Baroque style of Lower Silesia that surprises everyone who sees it. This is the Leopoldina Hall. In this same style we can also find the Oratorium Marianum. Finally we find the Mathematical Tower, which was an old observatory.
