Autumn Landscapes

Autumn is one of the best seasons to travel. Temperatures are milder, prices are cheaper than in high season and the landscape acquires a different color where ochres, oranges and reds predominate. It is therefore a great time to make a getaway and get to know the autumn landscapes.

Irati Jungle

In northern Spain is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It is not necessary to travel to the German Black Forest to enter a beech and spruce forest of sturdy trunks and leafy tops. Just over an hour from Pamplona by car is the Irati Forest, one of the most renowned nature reserves in Europe.

A spectacular wonder of nature is located in the eastern Navarra Pyrenees, in a basin surrounded by mountains in front of the valleys of Aezkoa and Salazar. An immense place of 17,000 hectares to enjoy the environment in all its glory.

Visiting the Irati Forest during autumn has a special and unique charm due to the explosion of colors embodied in the vegetation. A wonderful image that will stay engraved on the retina forever.

The autumn colours of White Mountains in New Hampshire, USA attract millions of visitors from all over the world every year. This is a spectacular place to make a getaway to explore nature and do all kinds of outdoor activities such as hiking, zip lining, etc.

Dean Forest

The Dean Forest in Gloucestershire is one of the oldest in England and one of the most beautiful when autumn comes and yellow, orange and ocher colors flood the treetops.

Centuries ago, this place was the hunting ground of royalty but today it is a public space of great beauty that receives the visit of many nature lovers to spend a day outdoors and enjoy the fauna and flora that you can contemplate here. In addition to walking and taking pictures, there are also plenty of activities in Dean Forest such as zip line, archery, kayaking through the fast waters of Symonds Yat or exploring the forest and visiting King Arthur’s Cave.

Douro Valley

The Douro Valley is listed by Unesco for its beautiful wine landscape as one of the oldest wine regions in the world: the Portuguese system of Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC) already certified the origin of the wine 200 years before the French started their AOC.

A boat trip on the Douro River allows you to admire the rural landscapes, fabulous in autumn, when the sun still warms and ripe grapes turn golden. It passes through the traditional rabelos (cargo boats), tiled villages and many cellars that offer tastings.

Pitlochry

Pitlochry is a small town in the Scottish Highlands that became popular when in 1842 Queen Victoria stayed at Blair Castle and said it was one of the most beautiful in Europe. In addition to its beauty with Victorian stone houses, it is characterized by its nautical and hiking activities on the nearby Lake Tummel where the surrounding landscape is colourful in autumn.
